Understanding Your Pathway

Getting the right certificate starts with understanding which pathway applies. We handle both — and we determine which one is right for you before any application is made.

Code Compliance Certificate (CCC)

The final sign-off for building work completed under an existing consent. Once all inspections are passed and documentation is in order, council issues a CCC to confirm the work has been completed in accordance with the consent.

Certificate of Acceptance (COA)

For work done without building consent, or where a CCC cannot be issued. It confirms the work meets the building code to the extent it can be assessed at the time of inspection. It is a practical pathway when consent is no longer possible.

Not sure which applies to your property? CodeCompliance assesses your situation, identifies the correct pathway, and takes it from there — so no time or money is wasted pursuing the wrong application with council.

Our Process

We take care of the entire compliance journey, from understanding the issue through to council approval and final sign-off.

1

Assess the Property

We review the property file and consent history, inspect the work, and identify what is missing, non-compliant, or still outstanding.

2

Prepare and Resolve

We determine the correct pathway, arrange any drawings, reports, inspections, or remedial building work, and prepare the required council application.

3

Manage Council and Sign-Off

We lodge the application, handle all council correspondence and follow-up requirements, and manage the process through to the COA, CCC, or final resolution.

Common Unconsented Building Work We Resolve

From kitchens and bathrooms to garage conversions and extensions, we manage the full process required to document, assess, and resolve unconsented or unsigned building work.

Kitchen Alterations

New or relocated sinks, island plumbing, removed walls, altered drainage, and structural changes are common sources of undocumented work. We assess what was completed and manage the drawings, supporting evidence, inspections, and council application required.

Bathrooms & Ensuites

Added showers, toilets, baths, wet-area linings, and altered plumbing can create significant compliance issues. We coordinate inspections, plans, specialist reports, remedial work, and council documentation to bring the bathroom through to sign-off.

Laundry & Plumbing Changes

New laundries, relocated tubs, additional toilets, and plumbing installed in garages or sleepouts may have required approval. We establish what work was completed, determine the correct compliance pathway, and manage the process with council.

Garage Conversions

Garages converted into bedrooms, offices, studios, or living areas often involve insulation, ventilation, fire safety, plumbing, and structural requirements. We assess the conversion and manage the complete Certificate of Acceptance process.

Sleepouts & Additional Dwellings

Sleepouts, cabins, minor dwellings, and self-contained accommodation can involve complex building and planning requirements — particularly where kitchens or bathrooms have been added. We coordinate the documentation, consultants, remedial work, and council approvals required.

Removed Walls & Layout Changes

Internal walls removed, doorways widened, beams installed, or rooms reconfigured without approval can affect the structure of the home. We investigate what was changed, engage engineers where required, and prepare the application for council.

Decks, Balconies & Verandahs

Raised decks, balconies, verandahs, and enclosed outdoor areas may require consent depending on their height, size, structure, and use. We review the completed work and manage any required Certificate of Acceptance or outstanding sign-off.

Extensions & Enclosed Areas

Conservatories, enclosed patios, lean-tos, and additions built without the appropriate approvals can affect structure, weathertightness, drainage, and boundary requirements. We manage the assessment, drawings, reports, remedial work, and council application.
